Ohhhh my...this weekend was amazing!
Friday I basically stuck to myself. I slept and worked on my sleep pattern. Saturday I was supposed to run errands but when I woke up I felt a gleam of cleaning in my eye. I set to work first in my room, then to the kitchen which quickly led to baking. I started my first sweet potato pie which only eventually led to my frustration that I did not have any brown sugar. To my rescue, there was a bag of cookie mix in the cabinet. Now, anyone who knows me and my cooking habits, I take after my grandmother. I cannot have the same bag of cookies everyone else has. I have to experiement and add something. So I did. I'm not telling what because these cookies were amazing. Unfortunately, I ruined them by burning them. I was trying to brown them, but I burned them. I was so very disappopinted.
By this time I was already late to meet my new friends for an afternoon at The Archieves. Oh! It was so much fun! I saw the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. We also saw exhibits about the presidents, then and now, and other entertaining things in our attempt to avert an awkward situation with two sweet gentlement who simply did not know how best to get to know females. (Men, please note, if you just met a female waiting in line for something set up a first date where you meet them somewhere at a certain time, don't ask for their number, email, or twitter account, they don't know you.)In the Archieve's store I saw a copy of the Emmancipate Proclaimation. It choked me up, truly. Knowing all that that document meant to me today. The opportunity I have now, that I would not have without that document. In addition, June 19th was the very next day. I bought it, of course, I think I will try to frame it and mount it in my room somewhere. After we left that historicalplace we went to the garden next door and had a few photo-opps and then relaxed in the water fountain.
That evening I went to a barbeque where I put my now broken and burnt cookies to use...sort of...it was terribly embarassing and they got taken off the table eventually. I didn't want to put them out in the first place so I was okay with that.
Sunday I slept again and enjoyed sometime with my Lord. That was it. It was wonderful :)

Whew! What a Week!!!!
I wish I could explain the insanity that has been the past week and a half. I know often when people say "I've had an insane week" it is something negative. But oh! I am thrilled, in fact, to tell the story. I just know I cannot do it justice! It has been absolutely incredible! I have recently discovered a way to multitask the (virtually nonexhistant) desk work I have with my blog. Now. I am working on my soon coming blogs of each day but please be patient because its a great deal of writing with so much to say!

Day 3: "I know I'm throwing alot at you. You got that? Oh, and Don't Ever Wear a Dress Again."
Notes!!! Action!!! "Well we can just have Karis floor direct Tuesday"
Well this morning I was introduced the chaotic side of the morning broadcast. I shadowed the Floor Director. She had me on my toes just watching her. She made everything look so easy and there I struggled with the concept of taking out the batteries from the mics and trashing them after every shoot (need new batteries so that mics won't fail). I think I like floor directing a lot though. Its simple enough, you just have to be alert and avoid getting on air. For me, the hardest part is listening to the director on my headset while I try to multitask what I'm actually doing. It was definitely a lot of funny. I think I forgot to mention that yesterday I observed the "robocam" which is a robotic camera which controls several cameras. That job you sit the entire 3 hours of the show but as Floor Director you're steady running....which is NOT cool for a dress. You bend over to pick up a rope and next thing you know you're not being lady-like. But my pen was constantly flowing writing down all the information and the reasons behind it. I learned how to do lighting, mics, and sound checks. Tomorrow it will be even more...
I'm floor directing a production next Tuesday....ohhh boy...

Day 2: See the sponge, be the sponge, you ARE the sponge!
My very first day being introduced to the team and observing. Attempt #1 to be social.
Life's Stresses:
First day in my department and I lost my $20 metro card! Needless to say I’m a little upset about that. Its no small amount of money but I’ll survive I’m sure. Problem is, I turned around to go get it, looked around, and realizing I wasn't going to find it power walked.8 miles to the train, nearly missed the train. I was one of those people you see dashing in just before the doors close. But I made it! Whew!
Internship:
At work my supervisor who is also the manager of the Studio team basically explained to me to be a sponge the first day. He also told me that the internship was what I made of it. If I sat back and just watched, that was fine; they'd let me do just that. If I wanted to do something, ask, and I shall receive. I knew immediately this was a good fit for me. I had to earn it all, but not in a demeaning way. Simply by drive. As any one who knows me knows: I have drive.
Finances:
Yesterday I mentioned a possible job opportunity lifeguarding. Well, its looking quite promising and I surely do hope so given I had to sacrifice my freshly twisted hair for the application process. The place is a community park of sorts and its only 2 blocks from my house. Perfectly on my way home from work. I truly do have to get this opportunity. It’s just too perfect. If it works out it truly will be a testament to God's sovereignty. I didn't get a job for the Y as I hoped for the convenience. I thought it would have been for training but the Y isn’t so conveniently located and the Lord knew this was for the better. Far better than any of my plans.
As I head to union station I am thinking through the exact best time to change my shoes. Now is as good as ever. <3

Day 1: "Sorry Karis, you and Sam are the only ones who have to be here at 6am"
This will be brief because I have to be up by 3:50am. Its funny because I'm pretty sure I've come home from the club at that time before. But this summer that is when my days will begin. I think I'm ready for this. actually I know I'm ready for this!
Today was incredible! My lovely hostess gave me a ride into my first day. I saw the building doing a mental movie shot of me standing in front of it in awe as the camera zooms out to show the little lady in a big building, block, region, city, country, world. I rushed in, though, determined to be early. When I arrived there were only 3 people. Soon we were joined by several others. I had great conversation with most of them as the day progressed.
I love everything about the job. It is what you make of it and I'm prepared for that. I plan to make it into amazing things and opportunities. :D The part that stood out for me so far, was the coffee machine. Its like magic. You pick your packet of the type of coffee you want, put it in the slot, and it makes it. Its super cool! But in general, I love this job and can't wait to dig in tomorrow!
Oh! And its looking hopeful for a job here. YESSSSSSSS for making money! And Lifeguarding, I know how to do that!!!!!!! YESSSSSSS for little training! Okay, I need to be asleep already.....
